Science Olympiad State Tournament

Press Kit

It is important that your local community is aware of the Science Olympiad. You may use the format below for a press release before you go to the tournament and again when you get home. If money is needed for your Science Olympiad activities, then talk to potential major sponsors (set a minimum dollar level, ie. $200 for major contributors) and minor contributors in the community and mention that they will get special recognition in a press release. Many organizations will only contribute if they are recognized.

The following tournament press releases can be adapted for your local use. Forward the release to the education reporter or news editor at your local newspaper, radio, and television offices. You can also provide this information to your school newspaper. The pre-tournament release should go out sometime in early April and the post-tournament release should be sent out on April 13 or 14, while it is still news.
